Women all over the world spend billions of dollars on skin care products every year, in an effort to keep their skin soft, smooth and lovely, even into their later years. There are certainly no shortage of skin care products. Cosmetic companies now offer a host of skin creams, wrinkle reducing agents and under eye potions for that delicate skin around the eyes.
With all of these day creams, night creams, exfoliants and sunscreens, it can be quite confusing trying to figure out which products might be best for you. You may end up purchasing one of these products based entirely on what the package blurb promises! Such experimenting is a costly proposition and the results may be disappointing. Perhaps it’s a good time to take a step back from these pricey products and try some natural skin care treatments, which have produced wonderful results over centuries of traditional use.
Our natural skin care treatment regimen begins with clean skin. No matter what your age, when you clean your skin, a natural glycerine soap is the least drying, is hypo-allergenic and does an excellent job of cleaning the skin. Rinse your skin well to remove all traces of soap. Follow up with witch hazel lotion, applied with a cotton ball. This closes and tightens the pores in a manner similar to cosmetic toners. Witch hazel is available at any pharmacy and costs about $1.50 for a bottle that will last for months. Read more

Some stress reduction tips tell you that you should make time for exercise, and that is very true. Taking time to do that each day can help you rid yourself of some stress, and helps you feel better. However, when you are in the moment, you can’t just walk out and go for a run. Instead, stop what you are doing, and take a short but brisk walk, even if it is just around your office or up and down the stairs. That short burst can helps eliminate the initial moment of extreme stress. This is not always possible to do, but it is one of the best stress reduction tips that you can keep in mind.
Other stress reduction tips might tell you that something like yoga is good to get rid of stress. This is true, as it is exercise, but it is also about meditation and clearing the mind. You obviously don’t want to stop in the middle of something to whip out your yoga mat, but you can stop and do something very simple. You can take a few moments to take some deep, slow breaths. Count to ten or twenty while breathing in and out. You are going to feel some of your stress melt away. It won’t completely calm you down, but it takes the edge off. Read more

There is a lot to be said for watching what we use on and in our bodies. Toxins can make us sick, but most of them will just make us feel run down over a long period of time. These toxins can cause more problems than people think, and are not always things we think of as poisons. When you feel down, lethargic, and like you are tired a lot, you may have a seriously medical condition, but it might also be that you need something simple like a body cleansing to clean out your system of all of the things that have crept in over the days, weeks, months, and even years.
How you choose to do a body cleansing is up to you, but you should really think about what you are doing and what the side effects could be. Some think they are going to drink fresh water for a period of days without putting anything else into their body. While a fasting body cleanse like this can do something to help flush out toxins, you are not eating food, and that is going to make you very weak. It may not do enough to warrant how weak, dizzy, and unproductive you are going to be during that time. Read more
Aloe Vera Products As Remedies

I first learned about Aloe vera products in Israel many years ago. When I was there, I was impressed by these giant, bizarre looking plants that were growing everywhere. As an experiment, I broke a leaf off of one of them and saw this green ooze coming out of it. When I asked what it was, my mom responded that it was the aloe vera plant. She told me that it was good for cuts and scrapes of all kinds. I had occasion enough to test it while I was there. I enjoyed clambering around on all the old ruins, and I ended up with more than one scrape. Every time I had a scrape, I would simply get a fresh leaf of aloe vera and rub it On the cut. It would always heal quickly.
Although aloe plants are beautiful, they are sort of impractical if all you want is the healing gel of the plants. After all, they take up a huge amount of space and take quite a while to get going. That is why there are so many aloe vera products on the market. There must be thousands of them. There are skin creams, lotions, and even nutritional supplements. The aloe vera plant sure has achieved fame! Read more
Healing Your Body Naturally: Starting at the Bottom

For most things in life, be it a work project, a school assignment, or a home repair task, the best thing to do is to start at the top and work your way down. This usually ensures that everything will get done one time and correctly. Unfortunately, this is not that way that body cleansing should work. The best thing to do when you begin detoxifying your body is to start at the bottom.
Cleansing the colon is the beginning of the long process of detoxification. This is because the colon can become built up, or even backed up, with waste. And if no waste is leaving the body, you body is not cleaning itself properly. After you have used a colon cleansing method recommended by a professional natural health practitioner, you can build up your immune system and internal organs with a natural food diet.
Healing Your Body Naturally: Detoxification

Everyone has heard of detoxifying diets. They are all the rage now, and a person can find about one hundred different books on the subject at any bookstore. And while it might seem like a trendy or fad diet, there are actually quite a few reasons why a detox diet might be a good idea for almost anyone.
Detoxification diets cleanse the body of toxins and chemicals that processed foods can put in. Since our bodies are built to handle natural foods and not processed ones, natural foods are what most detox diets recommend. There are many things a person in detoxification should avoid: dairy, unfiltered tap water, sugar, artificial sweeteners, and white flour are just a few. Instead of these things, the detox diets recommend large amounts of organic fruits, vegetables – especially green, leafy ones – nuts, seeds, legumes, and whole grains.
Consistency and Reflexology

With most therapies, whether they are traditional medical therapies, physical therapies, alternative therapies, or natural therapies, consistency is key. Keeping up with treatments that help you feel better and lessen or relieve your symptoms is the ideal way to help your body deal with an illness.
Reflexology, like other alternative therapies such as massage therapy, should be done regularly if the patient is to reap long-lasting benefits. In China, reflexology is done six times a week for a period of two weeks; then the patient is reevaluated to see what his or her status is. For home reflexology, it can be as easy as having your partner give you a hand massage every night before bed, or using a foot roller while you watch TV or eat dinner. The best way to boost the efficacy of reflexology is to do it consistently, even if that is only for five or ten minutes every day.
Reiki as a Holistic Treatment

Reiki is a fairly straightforward concept. Essentially, there is energy that flows in the universe. A person can be trained to harness this energy in a way so that they can treat medical, emotional, or spiritual problems in a patient or in themselves. While reiki cannot completely heal a person with an illness, it can be used to supplement more conventional treatments.
Reiki is done by having the practitioner lay his or her hands on the patient and focus the flow of energy into the affected area. Some reiki practitioners believe that the energy will flow to where it is needed, while other practitioners require that the patient tell them where the treatment should be focused. After extensive training, reiki practitioners can treat themselves, as well as treat another person without actually touching them. Some people confuse reiki with massage therapy, but the two are nothing alike; reiki does not require the manipulation of the body.
Rolfing: A Different Kind of Massage

For many people, there is little to no different between traditional massage therapy and rolfing. But for those who are rolfing practitioners or “rolfers”, as they are sometimes called, as well as for those who are rolfing proponents, rolfing is a completely different type of therapy. While it still involves the manipulation of soft tissue in the body, rolfing differs from massage therapy in its basic principles.
Essentially, the purpose of rolfing is to loosen up the soft tissue in the body so it does not interfere with the function of the muscles. Through a period of ten one hour long sessions, the rolfer will help the patient to lengthen their tissues and muscles. This also puts the body in alignment with gravity, something that rolfers also attribute to physical comfort and general wellbeing. Rolfers also offer advanced and maintenance sessions for regular recipients of rolfing treatments.
